I’ve been SO excited to share this session!! Anne has enjoyed a lot of success as a model, but wanted to build her portfolio with this session. The day of the shoot was extremely windy with 40 mph gusts, which was a little challenging, but Anne had driven in from Iowa City so we made it work! Anne was absolutely AMAZING to work with. Pretty sure it’s impossible to take a bad picture of her. Sharing almost her entire session…
It’s hard to put into words the feeling of walking into Barnes & Noble today and seeing several displays of Shawn Johnson’s new book “Winning Balance.” As you may know, I was asked by Shawn to do a photography shoot last fall for this book with hopes of using one of the photos for the cover. And even though I knew the purpose of the shoot, nothing was guaranteed so I tried not to get my hopes up. When I was told she would be using one of my photos, I was in total shock and disbelief. I literally shook with excitement for several hours after finding out! The reason for my excitement wasn’t simply because one of my photos was being published, it had a lot more to do with the fact that it was Shawn’s book. She is such an amazing person and has such a beautiful spirit. I have a deep respect for everything she has accomplished and for everything she stands for. I could not be any more honored to have played a small role in something so personal as her book about her journey. So when walking into the book store today and seeing her book, I’ll admit, I was pretty choked up. I made sure to take a moment and step back and really think about how blessed I am. I cannot wait to read through her book and reflect, not just on her life, but my own.
Shawn announced her retirement from gymnastics a couple of days ago. I’m so excited to see what she does next!! I know she will continue to succeed and inspire others in wherever her life leads her… for now, I will be reading up about her past.
And here’s a brief video from the publisher about the book:
Within the first 5 minutes of shooting this beautiful couple, I knew it would be such an easy session for me. They have an amazing connection and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything quite like it. For example, while they’d be snuggling up with their eyes shut, I could see them both start to smile or go more serious at the same time without even looking at each other. I even commented to them about it, because it really was pretty special to witness. I kind of picked on these two a little. Megan and Nicholas are both AMAZING singers. I even made them sing for me…oh how I love the power of being a photographer. Haha! When I first met them for their consult, they had told me they tried out for The Voice. So of course what did I take from that?? To me that meant they are comfortable in front of a crowd. So naturally, I took them to one of the most populated areas downtown. And I’m so glad I did!! Really proud of these…
This first one is one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken… If I could sum up my brand in one photo, I think this would be it.
I photographed this gorgeous couple last fall and will be photographing their wedding day tomorrow!! They laugh a lot and I like that. They’re SOOO much fun and I already know their wedding will be amazing.
I’ve known Christine and Jeff for a few years now and was super excited when I found out that Jeff finally proposed! I was thrilled that they wanted me to take some engagement photos for them. Such a laid back, beautiful couple. Had a lot of fun spending the evening with them.
