Fun shoot with Alex

Alex recently modeled for me while the Des Moines Register had a photographer follow us around photographing me shoot.  It was a fun experience and Alex was an awesome model.  Thought I’d blog a few of the photos from her shoot, as the article is supposed to run tomorrow in the Iowa Life section.  I’m nervous and excited for the article… Anyway, the shoot was fun because it was pretty much shooting for myself.  Alex actually lived in the house directly across from mine while growing up. I only remember her as a young child, so shooting her made me feel kinda old.  On a sort of related note, in a different senior session I asked a girl to sit “AC Slater Style” in a chair and she had no idea what I was talking about…that made me feel really old too.  GAH!!!:)

Thank you for being such an awesome model Alex!!

Stunning as always! And very inspiring!

Carrie & Tory… married!!

In case you ever wondered what would happen if an awesome couple were to give me 2 whole hours of portrait time downtown on their wedding day… well, this is it.  It was more of a portrait session with a side of wedding.:DCarrie and Tory kept their wedding small and didn’t have a wedding party, which resulted in a TON of time for portraits.  Of course, this was my dream come true.  I’ve known Carrie and Tory for a while now.  Tory is the brother of a good high school friend.  I remember first getting to know Carrie over at their house for a Lost series finale party.  It didn’t take long to realize that these two are PERFECT for each other.  Their love and joy is totally contagious, which is why I had an amazing time with them on their day.

I think I’m setting a new record for myself with number of photos I’m sharing…but I just can’t help myself. I apologize in advance if I don’t have another post for a while… I’m in full swing with weddings and seniors.

On to the photos… WARNING: you will fall in love with these two after viewing them. No joke.

Loved Carrie’s bling.

Carrie had a pretty hard fall down some cement stairs just outside the church. But I swear, her smile never left her face.

Okay, a few of the the ceremony.

This is Tory’s daughter, Camryn. If I were a betting man, I’d say she has a modeling career in her future. Every time the camera was on her, she lit up and struck a pose… and they weren’t cheesy poses either.

Aren’t they the cutest couple you’ve ever seen????

I wish I could learn from you. Everything you do is done with such perfection. I need help hahahah!

Sisters

A few months ago, these girls learned the shocking news that their mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. There was then a benefit held with a silent auction to help out the family during such a difficult time. I donated a session to the auction and was extremely excited to hear that these girls won. They wanted to give their mother some images of them for Mother’s Day. Of course I was honored to have the opportunity to help bring their family some joy. Their mother is currently at the hospital and may not be physically able to see the photos for Mother’s Day. Their mom raised these wonderful girls by herself and they said she’s an amazing mom. Please pray for her and be sure to let your mom know how much you appreciate her this Mother’s Day.

Meet Valerie, Brittney and Adrianna. Loved photographing them! Aren’t they the most beautiful group of sisters???

These are amazing, Ryan. I love the color, posing, angles, etc. And how neat that you donated a session & the girls got it. Awesome job!

WoW Ryan. These are Stunning! Every. Single. One of them! I love love love them. So so sad to hear their mother isn’t doing well, but I do believe in miracles. I’ll be praying.

Senior: Leah

I was SO flattered when not only did Leah travel from 3 and a half hours away for her session, but she did it on her 18th birthday. And another fun fact, her birthday is also her mom’s! I thought that was pretty awesome. Leah is one cool gal and we had some fun. I knew it would be a great session when right from the start of the session when I asked if she’d walk through a bunch of mud she just replied “I’m from a small town. I love this stuff.”

In my very humble opinion, Leah is meant to be in front of a camera. I literally would not finish my sentence when posing her and she’d either already have the pose down or made it even better. Thanks Leah for spending your birthday with me. And for making my job so easy!:)

Leah was a great model.

Brittany StoverApril 12, 2011 - 8:07 PM

These are amazing Ryan! Great work!

Senior: Nick

Spring is definitely here and I must say I am LOVING it. March ended up being an awesome month for photos. Nick’s session was on a beautiful 70 degree March day. Nick came rollin’ into the studio rocking shorts if that tells you anything.:) Nick was nothing short of awesome to shoot. He had his game face on all the way to the last shot of a rather long session. I am a total broken record, but I seriously think I get to photograph the most amazing seniors. They’re all up for anything and put up with my obsession for variety.:D

Nick cleans up real nice.

He’s an awesome drummer, so he brought his whole drum set for a few.
