Liz and Me

This year will mark Liz and I’s 5 year anniversary.  It’s crazy how quickly that’s come up!  We haven’t had any professional photos taken of us since our wedding day, so we needed to fix that!:) We decided that we really wanted to head out to Salt Lake City to have Angie Monson of Simplicity Photography do our photos.  I’ve been following Angie’s work for many years and even went out to Salt Lake to be mentored by her early on.  Her work is truly inspiring.  I’m so glad we did this.  It really helped me empathize with my clients about the whole photo experience.  If you’re a photographer and haven’t had your photo taken in a while, DO IT.  It seriously opened up my eyes about a lot of things.  We had such an awesome time out in SLC and hope to go back some day.

RYAN! You are amazing behind the camera and IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA! And your wife… holy cow she’s gorgeous! So glad that you and your wife got professional photos done. They’re amazing. And, ummmm, you went to this woman for mentoring? Guess it’s time to “give back” in the mentoring world (hint hint). Lovely photos!

These are pure magic!!! You both a beautiful and don’t you just love Angie’s work. My family and I have flown out to SLC and NYC to meet up and have Angie do our pics. It’s so important. And as a photographer…I’m never in any of the pictures I take of my kids. So it’s really important to me that we do this and who better to do it than Angie!!!

Annie

Annie was my first class of 2014 senior this year.  I’m so excited for all of my seniors this year!!  I can already tell it will be an amazing class.

When I photograph people, I’ve learned I need to be a little bossy, haha.  You know, things like “sit here” “move this” “fix that”.  At some point in all my bossiness, I’ll usually say really seriously “laugh” or “laugh out loud” just to see what I get.  And oh my gosh, Annie could seriously bust in to a huge laugh on command.  I absolutely loved that.  She has such a bright and happy personality and I think it comes through in her images.

Annie also rocked a few soft looks…

Lizzie Velasquez

In my career as a photographer, I’ve met so many amazing people and I’m continually reminded of how lucky I am to be a photographer.  Having the opportunity to meet and photograph Lizzie is easily one of the biggest highlights of my entire career.

If you haven’t heard of Lizzie, she has an extremely rare syndrome that prevents her from gaining weight.  Only 3 people in the world have it!  She has embraced her syndrome and has dedicated her life to helping others.  Her story and her joy for life is so inspiring.  She lives in Texas, but when we first started emailing I let her know that if she was ever in town, I’d love to photograph her.  I was beyond excited when I got an email from her saying she’d be in town for some speaking events!!

When Lizzie walked into the studio with her family, she immediately lit up the room with her huge beautiful smile and joyful spirit.  I am so honored to have been able to photograph her.  She’s such a beautiful person.  I encourage you to check out her website: www.aboutlizzie.com
